Unstoppable is the one with the train, right?

November 10, 2010 at 3:46 pm (The Movie I'm not Seeing this Weekend) (, , , )

And if it is, then it totally makes me think of Unbreakable, which I saw for the first time a couple of months ago. (At the comic book store, we have TVs to entertain the customers/ourselves, and our DVD player is broken. I was just happy it wasn’t another Law & Order: SVU marathon.)

And if it’s not, well, which the hell one is Unstoppable?

I know this comes as a surprise, but there have been a LOT of movies called "Unstoppable."

No, I guess it is the one with the train.

And it's the train that's unstoppable, not Bruce Willis. (Who was actually unbreakable, but I hope you can understand my confusion.)

But no superheroes, unless you count Denzel Washington. And Captain Kirk. (Right? That other guy is the new Captain Kirk, right?)

Oooh, ooooh, he totally is! I actually know who a celebrity is who hasn't been around since the '90s! That's really exciting for me.

So this movie, right away, is appealing to your basest sympathies: It’s Based On Actual Events! There’s a Busload of Schoolchildren! Management Doesn’t Want To Get Involved! That’s Not a Train, It’s a Missile!

Scratch that. It's a train after all.

And then it’s got the throbbing music that crescendos and crescendos and OH MY GOD WILL DENZEL WASHINGTON BE ABLE TO SAVE THE SCHOOLCHILDREN?

Won't someone think of the schoolchildren? And Denzel Washington saving them?

Of course he will. This is a Denzel Washington movie.

And Denzel Washington is a man who has never NOT saved the schoolchildren.

      Nice, Travis!
It’s like that episode of Cowboy Bebop where they go looking for a Beta player, except with way less Spike Spiegel, which is its only tragic flaw.
