I’ve never met a boy wizard that I liked

November 17, 2010 at 7:05 pm (The Movie I'm not Seeing this Weekend) (, , )

So, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows opens this weekend, which I didn’t know because I don’t care.

Is there something awesome going on in this poster that I'm just not seeing? Because, otherwise, what the hell?

I haven’t read a single book, I haven’t watched a single movie, and I don’t intend to start now.

(OK, I started to read the first book, but after 23 pages in, I realized the writing wasn’t going to get any better, and I gave up.)

It's probably not fair to compare JK Rowling to Neil Gaiman, but I can't help it, I did it, and God bless 'im, I miss Gaiman's comic book work.

That said, I tried to watch this trailer so I could at least talk about what goes on in it, but after suffering through the most boring opening ever, even the throbbing symphonic music couldn’t convince me to keep going. I did catch a glimpse of a dragon or something before I completely gave up, so I can tell you that this movie probably has a dragon in it or a thing that looks like a dragon.

It might've been this thing. I must reiterate that I don't actually care.

In conclusion, since you already like Harry Potter, you will enjoy this movie. (I’m just assuming that you like Harry Potter.)

Hey, that's not Harry Potter! That's Timothy Hunter! I'm so confused!

i’m really surprised there weren’t more people who realized that Harry Potter is pretty obviously a Tim Hunter ripoff… but then again, i am a huge Gaiman fan, and i don’t need to look for excuses to hate Harry Potter. >.>

I think more people would know it if more people knew Tim Hunter existed.
I actually had a kid at the comic book store look at The Books of Magic and go, “Whoa, Harry Potter ripoff.” Then I schooled him.
