A conversation with my father: An anecdote

June 24, 2013 at 11:55 am (Stuff that Bugs Me Right Now) (, )

My father: Man, they’re really going nuts over this Gandolfini guy. They keep writing about him like he’s royalty or something.

Me: He did star on a groundbreaking television series, and was a pretty famous actor. Besides, at least he did something. What does royalty do, other than be royalty?

My father: Well, at least they’re real. He wasn’t even real.

And then I had to explain to my father that Tony Soprano isn't real, but that James Gandolfini, the actor who played him, was a real human being who recently died.
